The 39th annual EDGE&TA National Business Meeting was held August 14th, in Cabool, Missouri and was hosted by Branch 28. Branch President, Wayne Hart, opened the meeting. Wayne then introduced the National President Curtis Cook.

Curtis thanked Branch 28 for their job well done and then introduced the directors and insurance advisor.

Roll call of branches was taken with 23 branches present.

The following items were discussed.

1. The National plans to have new ID cards ready for the year 2000. They will be a one time issued card similar to a credit card. Each year when a member renews the branch person responsible for membership will just put a sticker on. This will save a lot of work for the branch as well as the National.

2. Financial statement and the proposed budget for 1999 were discussed. Copies were available.

3. Web pages were talked about and the importance of having an email contact for each branch and keeping these pages updated.

4. Hall of Fame: Dale Fry talked about the two inductees for this year and how he could be contacted for candidates for 2000.

5. Insurance: Larry Burchfield talked about insurance.

6. Ballot: 48 branches voted and all proposed amendments were approved.

7. Branch 28 gave away many door prizes that were donated by local business people.

8. Gus Peterson talked about shows for the year 2000. Mona Heath from Branch 19 was present and extended an invitation to all to attend the National Show to be held in Farmington, New Mexico Sept 8-9-10.

9. Curtis conveyed a message received from Menno Kliewer that he was sorry he could not attend due to poor health.

10. Floyd Schmall was elected to fill the vacant director’s position. Gus Peterson is staying on as director for another 3-year term.

11. Curtis talked about three open positions for next year and asked people to start thinking about candidates.

12. There were no questions from the floor, meeting was adjourned.
