- Minutes of the National Meeting 2000 Recorded by Ruth A. Warnock, National Secretary
- The 40th annual business meeting was held in Farmington, NM on Sept. 9 in conjunction with the National Show hosted by Branch 19. The meeting was opened by Branch 19 president Ed Owen, welcoming everyone and asked all to join in the Pledge of Allegiance. Ed introduced the National President, Curtis Cook.
- Curtis thanked Branch 19 and the city of Farmington for working with the Branch. He welcomed all the branches that were present and introduced the current board of directors, Gus Peterson, Oregon, Dale Fry, Texas, Dick Wilson, California, Ruth Warnock, California, Howard Hodson, Arkansas and our insurance advisor, Larry Burchfield, Arkansas. Floyd Schmall, California was not present.
- The roll call was taken with 32 Branches being present. Curtis announced that we have put 13 new branches in since April of 2000 and many new states have now joined. He listed all the new branches since the beginning of the year by number and location. Our most recent being in Pennsylvania with 354 members.
- The branch numbers that had not sent in ballots were called off. Curtis asked if there were any representatives from those branches present. If so, would they either submit or fill one out at this time. The total number of branches that voted were 53 and all but 4 were mailed to the national secretary. He announced that due to the number of people running for directors positions (8), and to assure accuracy, the new directors would be announced at the dinner.
- The meeting was turned over to Larry Burchfield, our insurance advisor who announced that we have had a fantastic year with only one claim reported so far and it was with a member and a member can't sue a member. Larry said it would have been great if the accident policy had been in force for this club, but it was not. So the member had to take the money out of his own pocket. Larry also thanked Dick and Mona Heath and Branch 19 for the set up of the grounds for this show. Larry opened the floor to questions. There were none asked.
- Dale also thanked the members of Branch 19 and told them they probably raised the standard for putting on a national. He announced the Hall of Fame Inductees for 2000 as being Harry Lee from Indiana, and Dick Tombrink from Montana, He stated there were about 15 submissions. The cut off will be March the 31st for next year.
- Curtis announced there were copies of the budget available and that we were on target. He talked about membership cards being an additional expenditures this year but explained that these were a one time issue and each member only needs one, regardless of how many branches he/she belongs to. Stickers will be furnished for next year.
- Our web master, Jerry Mac Martin, who was unable to attend was given praise for the super job he does without pay from EDGE&TA. Jerry makes the web pages very interesting and is always finding ways to improve it and make it easier for all to find information. Jerry will work with each branch to make them a page. It is free. All but about 14 branches have an email contact, which makes it very cost effective for the National officers to contact branch officers.
